Passion Fruit Flower

A few days ago, from the verandah, I noticed a beautiful flower hanging on top of the trees. This part of the garden is densely populated with many tall flowering trees but I have not seen such a flower before.  At a closer look, it is a creeper and as the branches are so thick, I could not trace where it comes from. I posted the photo on Facebook and asked my friends if any one of them know what it is.  To my delight, this is a passion fruit flower.  This makes my day.

Maybe you should wait for the fruits.. It's sweet and sour that gives off beautiful smell, as the name implies 百香果.

I like passion fruit too but this is the first time I see a flower.  My sister in law told me that I should give it some blood and bone and I may have some fruits.  I have to first find out where it comes out from the ground. With the thick growth in this patch of the garden, it will be hard. Anyway, I am contended with just the flowers (more are coming up) as they are beautiful. If we manage to have fruits, that will be an extra bonus.

In Hong Kong, we call this fruit 熱情果。Obviously a transliteration.

^^ Yes they are beautiful~ A sturdy arbour is good for creepers, and ours turned into a temporary shady resting place, with fruits hanging from it. It'd be wonderful to have some fruits for sure.

I would share some photos here if I could find them.
