AN episode of alleged skylarking could end up having serious consequences for a group of young Tasmanians.

Two Hobart men will appear in court charged with "recklessly throwing a missile" after an alleged water balloon throwing incident in the streets surrounding the University of Tasmania's Sandy Bay campus on August 24.

Also, three 17-year-old youths will be dealt with through diversionary conferencing under the Youth Justice Act.

Hobart CIB thanked the public for their help and information about the incident.

Police are also still making inquiries about the assault of two students at the Observatory Hotel in the early hours of Saturday October 3.

Anyone with information about the alleged incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
